Good battery maintenance will prolong the life of your car battery. Check the battery's water level every 2 to 3 months, only if it's a non-maintenance-free wet-cell battery. Clean the battery terminals with a wire brush every 6 to 8 months. Coat the battery with grease made for high temperatures.
The average car battery life can be anywhere from three to five years, but the exact time any given battery needs to be changed depends on a number of factors.
